My STAR TREK: Introduction

Did you know PlutoTV has 24/7 Star Trek channels? I didn’t, until my daughter was born in December and I needed a show to keep me awake during the wee late hours of the night, when I spent more time shushing and rocking than I did sleeping. They’ve got one for the OG series, for Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine, plus one that just plays the movies (I didn’t realize there were enough Star Trek movies to JUSTIFY a full time channel, honestly what do I know?)

I’ve always been intrigued by Star Trek. I’ve seen all the Chris Pine movies (pretty good) and I’ve seen Wrath of Khan (really good), and my wife has shown me episodes here and there, but for someone with a catalogue of useless fantasy and sci-fi knowledge about a number of other genre stories (love me some lore. And now that I’m a few episodes into TNG, I also love me some Lore), I’ve never gotten completely into the property. For me, it’s been a great expanse of characters and stories that have intrigued me from afar but intimidated me with its scope. A final frontier, if you will.

Well, now I venture forth. This blog is primarily a creative outlet to write things that I love. So while becoming proficient in Trek is our Prime Directive here, we’ll be hopping all over the universe. If I had to guess, we’ll spend a fair bit of time in Westeros, occasionally in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, and in all those other wonderful fake worlds that delight and astound us.

Star Trek is the primary path, though! And we’ll be starting with the Next Generation. Episode by Episode, the good and the bad, let’s get to know the Enterprise, Jean-Luc, Dr Crusher, and Will Wheaton!

I’d love to have you along for the ride. Plenty of room on this starship!
